26 Words was a collaboration celebrating 25 years of Letter Exchange and 10 year of 26. Lettering artists and writers were randomly paired then given a word picked from each letter of the alphabet. The results are a collaboration between the artist and writer.

My partner was Neil Baker and we were allocated the word hearse. Around the same time, Neil’s mother passed away. He produced a poem of two stanzas with the order of words reversed imagining an exchange that I visualised as two letters.

I also designed the exhibition logo and catalogue.

The show toured to several venues in the UK as well as the central library in Bruges where it was filmed by Belgian television.

To publicise the exhibition in Snape Maltings I asked lettering artists to create 26 messages around the complex (using non-permanent paint!).
