The Nereids is an touring exhibition organised by the Lettering Arts Trust to promote contemporary hand lettering. Participants were given a list of the Greek sea nymphs to choose from, I went for Amphitrite – Queen of the seas.

The image is based on two fragments of pinax from Corinth and is painted on plaster, mounted on gold leaf. As this was for a lettering organisation, I couldn’t resist turning it into The Queen of the Cs.
